It is possible to use specific fonts with HTML/CSS within an email newsletter, but there are some mail app compatibility issues. It's a complex area but as way of a guide: Apple Mail will support @font-face, Outlook 2000+ and Mozilla Thunderbird support the @import rule. No web-mail accounts (gmail, AOL, Outlook.com) support non-system fonts in email.
Our recomendation: Proceed with caution. Use a suitable system fallback font and test extensively.
While the percentage of subscribers using email clients that can display web fonts is rising, it's very important to provide a widely-used backup font that's similar in appearance.
