What would you do if you lost your sight?
Fontsmith have followed on with their accessible type design work for Mencap, with a brand headline typeface for the RNIB. Fontsmith were commissioned by London design group Purple to create a headline title font that was both visually distinctive and yet adhered to accessible guidelines and boundaries. Fontsmith are the only typeface design company that have researched what makes something accessible, with the UK based charity for Learning disabilities, Mencap.
We used our knowledge of accessible design to create the RNIB headline font. This was a tricky project as the design had to be balanced between branding and legibility. The typeface along with the illustration, colour, and copyrighting has created a distinctive campaign for RNIB. Proving yet again that good design and accessible fonts don’t have to be ugly or patronising, and is inclusive of all member of the audience.
